Interior Led Color Change Thread

121 posts in this topic

Alright. So ive found out that one of the biggest things that lancer owners (and other Mitsubishi owners) want to change the most is the interior LEDs.

I have done just that. With an enormous amount of help from Roda I was able to change these LEDs. The board itself isn't much to look at. There's lots of little burn spots and stray solder, but it works. I tested it in my own car and drove around over a bumpy road to make sure it doesn't flicker. I plan on selling these, so they wont be staying my car.

Blue back lighting with White indicator LEDs, and blue mood under lighting. I know its kinda hard to tell in the pictures.

I will be offering this service to anyone that's interested.

I will be doing any of the controls (except MMSC because its too expensive to order a new one each time)

1. PM me with what you want done

2. give me just the money for the parts

3. I buy new or used controls and leds

4. when I finish, you send me the money for labor and shipping

5. when the new part arrives you install it into your car

I found some translucent red tap in my garage, and I got curious. I used this to tint my radio screen red. I like how it came out

Before (orange screen)

After (red screen)

My camera on my phone doesn't take really great night time pictures but believe me its very red and just as bright as normal, just like the information screen

Finally got my new LEDs in the mail, and did my indicators in red.

I was also able to do my steering wheel controls too. With that, I am at full blue/red conversion status.

After that I wanted to do some touchups. I took out the tinted red radio screen filter and put back the orange one because it was too dark to see during the day. I will find a different way to get a red screen on the radio. I also put some blue painters tape over the mood LEDs in the HVAC. The light before was very bright and distracting at night, but now, with the light diffused the way it is, the mood lighting is subdued and easy on the eyes.

Planning on doing something to the cluster?

No I don't. I went with a red and blue color scheme. Frankly I wont touch the cluster because I know if I screw it up my car wont start, and they're not exactly easy to get and reprogram. The risk really isn't worth the reward for me there. Same goes for customers. I wont do the cluster simply because I don't want to be liable. They're really a hassle to deal with anyway.
