Gink's Slow Sportback

26 posts in this topic

Hello everyone. Welcome to my progress thread!

I bought my 2010 GTS Sportback in the summer of 2012. I saw her on an online listing and fell in love. So much so, the dealership almost ripped me off lol. I read ahead of time to not expect this car to be as fast as it looks, and I still don't expect that from her. She will be a slow, nice-looking daily that will last me until I come into money and can afford speed.

The first thing i did was a remote start/alarm. I find it a complete necessity. I bought it on Sonic and had Best Buy install it. Worth every penny.

The next thing I did was add a sub. I picked out the Infinity Basslink based off of reviews. My thought was the Basslink would be a place-holder for a much better system in the future (which I am just now starting to plan). With that in mind, when I ran my cables I added some modular-ness to them in the form of power and ground blocks so I can add a mono and 4-channel amp in the future.

The next group of mods was all at once. I got the windows tinted, got a plate side-mount, dipped the front and rear, and painted the fogs.

The rest of my mods I don't have pictures for YET. I've done a little engine dress-up and added a Borla exhaust.

I will get pics for that plus some real glamour shots when it's warmer out. Also this spring I will be starting up my mods again.

New headlights, Dip the wheels, paint the calipers, Takeda SRI (for induction noise mostly), Audio upgrade round 2, new rims when I need tires and maybe lowering springs.

Thats all for now folks. I will update this post when moar stuff happens!

Awesome work, love how it looks. I am dipping my front when it gets a little warmer as my first mod and buying front air dams (fangs). Very slow progress haha

I want to, but I dont have the skills. i also kinda want something I can move to another car in the future. I am probably just gonna give up on having trunk space and take the 2 12's outa my old buick and put em in the lancer.

Get a pre-made box then. Or you can do something like this.

My friend used an old suitcase and made it look really artsy. Fits in well :)

does he get good sound from that? I have the infinity basslink in there now and its not enough for me, ive been considering this, getting 500w rms, but idk if it will be enough for me.

Ginkosu how hard was it to take the caliper off?

didn't take the calipers off. I don't recommend it either. It's very sloppy work. It's a five foot job at best meaning they look good from 5 feet or greater away.

nice ride man!

and as for the calipers, take the bolts off but just let them rest on something.... no sense bleeding the brakes if you take the hoses off. just sand her good and dry and paint that shit bruh!

Time for a little update!

I smoked my tails using plastidip (it's an addiction)

Can't wait to get pulled over!
