I remember someone plasti dipping it white and used sharpie to make a design on it.

Good to know!

I've always erred on the side of extreme caution with air bags & associated bits & pieces. Maybe a flocked dash would be nice after all.

So I assume, if you go the vinyl wrap route, you wrap within the box lines and do not overlap so the airbag doesn't get stuck during deployment?

Lol. An airbag will not be stopped by vinyl I think...
