Fix Rust

11 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

I just figured that there is two small spots of rust on my 2010 lancer's roof... It looks like the paint is gone and there is some yellow rust...

Is there an easy way to fix? Thanks!

Try to buy rustoleum touch up paint product similar to the color of your car.

I have like five or so of those. I'm going to grind the rust out carefully with a Dremel and try using a paint pen.

I have a rust spot forming on the front lip of my hood on the driver's side at the corner that meets the inner top corner of the headlight. A little rust is visible, but 1/2" of the pain around it is starting to bubble, which means there's more. Has anyone ever used that rust-converting paint that eats it and turns it to primer? Need to know before I go and do something stupid >.>

best bet with any rust is to rub it down and see how much there is. If its just caused via stone chips some rust treatment and then a touch up usually fix's it. Done it on many cars before.

how come a 5-year-old car develop rust? An Untreated scratch which exposed the bare metal?

Yeah, pretty much. It's just surface rust, so it sands or grinds off and can be painted over without issue. Not compromising integrity or causing holes, but if left untreated could in the future
