here is how i did it:
1. removed headlights
2. wiped them down with a microfiber cloth
3. wet sanded w/2000 grit sandpaper
4. wiped down headlights with 70% isopropal alcohol (i know its not the best thing to use, but its all i had)
5. sprayed on 2 coats of nightshades (15 min dry time between coats)
6. sprayed on 2 coats of clear coat (this is where i think i messed up)
7. lightly wet sanded w/2000 grit sandpaper
8. applied a generous layer of turtle wax rubbing compound
9. hand buffed the lights
10. put lights back in
now i think i messed up during the clear coating process, because the clear coat i used was called "Krylon for plastic" and before i sprayed it on, the lights actually looked very shiny and glossy, but the clear coat i used made them look more dull, but i figured the sanding and buffing would fix that... looking back, i realized i probably should have used a HIGH GLOSS enamel clear coat. do you think that this really made a difference?
and also in an attempt to shine them up a little more, do you think i could just wet sand them a little more and apply a high gloss clear coat? or do you think i should just remove the nightshades and try again?
they look great on the car, but just came out looking a little too dark and dull.
any and all opinions are appreciated. thanks.
