I plan on doing all exposed metal inside the car. I’m definitely going to cover the doors (behind the panels) and the rear trunk area including under the seats. I haven’t decided if I’m going to do under the carpets.

Dynamat is expensive so I bought this stuff which is WAY cheaper. It comes in 6" x 25' (12 sq ft) and costs about $17 from Home Depot. Very sticky stuff. I worked on the trunk area for about 3 hours and almost finished it. I just have one more wheel arch to do. The back area sounds quieter but really I need to do the doors and the front area in order to make a real difference. I noticed a lot of road noise from the front tires and it resonates through the rest of the car (stupid OEM Dunlops probably don’t help either). The tinfoil tape is mainly to cover the seams where the tar tape seams meet. Here are some pics so far.

Interested in knowing the results from this project, if it's pretty good outcome I may do this to get some clearer bass from my sub along with the dampened road noise.

I will vouge that sound deadening makes a HUGE difference. Bass will hit much better. I did about 60% of my civic coupe, Floor/Trunk/Doors/Etc., as much as is easily possible, and road noise decreased significantly. And the speakers were clearer. Only problem is that you really need to get the firewall done and the front fenders done in order to cut the road noise to a level similar to a high end car.

Although I'm curious as to the quality of the product your using and how it compares to dynamat. Presumebly a roofing material? or for window flashing maybe?

Roofing tape is meant to melt and run into cracks to repair them. I wouldn't recommend using that stuff on the doors or roof. I've seen that stuff melt and make a mess.

My brother in-law did his Nissan Juke in this stuff about a month ago in the Texas sun, no issues so far.

I agree with avatar, tar based products like this actually don't work well cause the heat will eventually cause it to loose coesion. Month is nothing, wait a year.

I did this in my last car. I did the trunk and doors and never had any issues with it. I did it about 2 years ago and it's never caused any problems.

Yup, worked great. I went through the hotest summer on record in Texas and it held up great. Very nice, cheap mod.

WTF! Why just not save some money and buy something good and do it right ???!!! Just because it looks like the foil on the dynamat not means that works like that! They also are cheaper alternatives to dynamat like raamat, etc...

Not saying it doesn't work, just that it doesn't work well. It's like using 2x the product for the same or lesser result.

Roofing applications are not made for cars. Spend $100 and get the Stinger Roadkill bulk kit from Amazon. I installed a layer on both the inner and outer shell of all four doors and i still have enough material to add a layer to the deck lid.

i have 2 12" in the trunk on mines and no dynomat but there is barely any rattle, only in passenger door( i think the rods for the door handle shaking.)

but if anything i would recomend dynomat because going the cheap route is just going to end up bad in the long run

It's been almost 2 years in the Texas heat (record breaking summer last year - 42 straight day sover 100 degress) and still working perfectly. Worked fine for me and it's a one-time installation.

You guys do what you want and can afford, don't hate. I don't critique people when they paint stock rims red with a spray can or put band-aid sticks on the rear quarter panels.
